Minister for labour Ch. Malla Reddy faced the wrath of people as they hurled footwear at him, while he was addressing Reddy Simhagarjana organised by an apolitical organization, Reddy Jagruthi, at Ghatkesar last night.
The people, who attended the meeting, became berserk and began throwing footwear, stones and chairs after he affirmed that the TRS would retain power during the next general elections.
He repeatedly praised Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and this angered the people at the meeting. Sensing trouble, the police force deployed at the place ensured that the minister left the place. Even as Malla Reddy was leaving, people hurled stones and footwear at his convoy and raised slogans ‘Malla Reddy down down’.
The public at the meeting got infuriated as the minister just kept praising the TRS government but did not speak about the Reddy community, who demanded that Reddy should tell them what actually the government would do for their welfare.
At one time, Congress leader Harivardhan Reddy asked the organisers to see that the minister speak on the welfare of the Reddy community but Malla Reddy continued with his own praises on KCR.
Angered with the speech and praises, the public began hurling stones and soon the police swung into action and led Malla Reddy away from the dais and the venue.
