Last week during Mahanadu, YCP MLA Anam Ramnarayana Reddy’s daughter Kaivalya Reddy met TDP’s Nara Lokesh. Media reports claimed that Kaivalya Reddy reportedly asked for the Atmakur by-poll ticket and TDP had a second thought in contesting Atmakur by-poll which was emptied by the untimely demise of YCP’s Mekapati Goutham Reddy.
The latest update is that TDP has decided to stay away from the Atmakur by-election. With YCP allotting the ticket to Mekapati family, TDP took the decision not to contest as a mark of respect to Goutham Reddy and Mekapati family.
In the past TDP followed the same approach for Badvel by-election and the main opposition should be appreciated for keeping politics aside in exceptional circumstances. TDP will be officially announcing its decision shortly.
But what will be the fate of Kaivalya Reddy? There were reports that she might join the TDP soon and also contest the Atmakur constituency. Now this is not going to happen and we have to see what decision Kaivalya would be taking on her political ambitions.
Meanwhile BJP has formed a five member poll panel for Atmakur by-election and the saffron party is willing to contest despite having full knowledge that it could not secure even a deposit.
Atmakur by-election notification was released on Monday and two nominations have been filed on the first day. The polling date is on June 23rd.
