Sharmila To Contest From Khammam’s Paleru!

Despite lukewarm response for her walk-feat (Paadayatra) YSRTP chief YS Sharmila is continuing her political campaign against the TRS government. Once Sharmila completes her Paadayatra, she will be focusing on her party and the Assembly polls scheduled in December 2023.

The big anticipation is, from where Sharmila will contest? Khammam district YSRTP chief Lakkineni Sudheer Babu revealed Sharmila’s choice of Assembly constituency and it is Paleru. Beeravelli Srinivas Reddy who is the in-charge of Paleru constituency acknowledged Sudheer Babu’s disclosure. Both the leaders confirmed that a wide-ranging meeting of Paleru constituency has been scheduled in Nelakondapalli on the 19th of this month.

But Paleru is a strong fort for the Congress party. In the 2018 elections, Kandala Upender Reddy from INC emerged victorious against TRS strong candidate Thummala Nageshwar Rao. Despite having a huge tribal vote bank, leaders from the Reddy community dominate here.

According to YSRTP sources, Sharmila is of the opinion that Paleru is the bastion of the Congress during his father’s tenure as chief minister and the lack of a strong leader in the Congress after Ramreddy Venkatereddy’s death, would work in her favour when she contests in the next Assembly polls.

The internal fights within the ruling TRS party might also help Sharmila have the edge and if she campaigns extensively in the constituency and wins the confidence of the people, she would certainly step into Telangana Assembly on her first attempt in mainstream politics.
