Survey: Jagan Is India’s 3rd Best CM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has been adjudged as the 3rd Best Performing CM in the country in a survey conducted between July 15 and July 27, 2020. Jagan secured 11 percent votes in the poll and stood at No.3 in the survey.

India Today-Karvy Insights has conducted a wide survey – The Mood Of The Nation – across the nation. The survey was done in 19 states in 97 Lok Sabha constituencies with about 12,021 samples through telephone.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath has been ranked as The Best Performing CM in India. Yogi secured 24 percent of total votes and grabbed the top spot. He has improved 6 percentage points up from the previous survey.

This is the third time Yogi Adityanath stood No.1 in the survey in a row. This is despite severe backlash and criticism against Yogi Adityanath administration over the rise of crime including kidnappings and murders in UP.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is ranked No.2 with 15 percent votes. West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee is ranked No.4 with 9 percent votes. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is ranked No.6, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray is ranked No.7, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik is ranked No.8. Telangana CM KCR has been ranked No.9 in the list.

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot stood at No.10. Interestingly, it can be noted that the six of the seven top-performing Chief Ministers are from non-BJP and non-Congress parties i.e regional parties.

Since the survey is conducted during the peak of Covid time, it also reflects the performance of administration of respective CMs in the country during the Corona pandemic. CM KCR’s rank has witnessed a steep fall amidst growing criticism over his government’s performance during Covid-19 crisis.

Meanwhile, the Mood Of The Nation (MOTN) survey also declared PM Narendra Modi as the number one choice as the next PM of the country while Congress president Rahul Gandhi stood far behind. While Modi secured 66 percent, Rahul Gandhi got meager 8 percent votes and stood second for the choice as next PM. Sonia Gandhi got 5 percent votes and became the third most favoured leader for the PM post.

Earlier in 2019, YS Jagan, who was just two-and-half month old CM then, stood at 3rd rank in the Most Popular CM of the country in a survey conducted by the VDP Associates back then. Then Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik was ranked No. 1 in the list, followed by UP CM Yogi Adityanath (2nd Rank). Telangana CM KCR was ranked No. 5.
