Ayodhya Ram Mandir Trust Chief Nritya Gopal Das, who attended Bhumi Pujan a week ago, has been tested positive for Corona Virus.

Mahant Nritya Gopal Das had shared the dais with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, Governor Anandiben Patel and RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat during the Bhumi Pujan in Ayodhya on Aug 5. The Bhumi Pujan was also attended by about 175 guests the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust had invited. The landmark and historical event of Bhumi Pujan was conducted amidst tight security arrangements, Covid protocols and physical distancing norms.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath enquired about the health status of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das. UP CM has asked Dr Trehan of Medanta hospital to look at the medical requirements of Mahant. Nritya Gopal Das. With Mahant tested positive just a week after Bhumi Pujan, it needs to be ascertained when, where and how he had come in contract with the virus.

82-year-old Nritya Gopal Das has been leading the fight for Ram Mandir in Ayodhya since 1992. In 1993, VHP had formed Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas trust and made Gopal Das as its head. Born into a Brahmin family in Mathura, he had discontinued his commerce studies as he was not satisfied with the traditional pattern of education and a couple of years later he changed his mind and left home for Ayodhya Temple.

Nritya Gopal Das was initiated into Diksha Sanskar by Mahant Ram Manohar Das. Later, Gopal Das was enrolled in the Sanskrit university in Varanasi, and graduated as ‘Shastri’. Gopal Das was just 27-year-old when he was installed as a mahant in a grand ceremony in Ayodhya in 1965.
