Capital In Vizag: ‘Jagan Favouring Kammas’

Ex-minister and YCP firebrand Kodali Nani strongly condemned TDP chief and ex-CM N. Chandrababu Naidu for trying to concentrate development and wealth only at Amaravati, in the name of capital. Naidu and others did a similar blunder by developing capital cities like Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, etc., he said.

He said that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had set up 16,000 village/ward secretariats with an aim to decentralize governance and make it easier for the people to get the benefits of government programmes and obtain permissions easily.

If Jagan would have given importance to religions and castes, the executive capital should have been proposed in Rayalaseema because the CM’s community is dominant in that place but he had proposed to develop Vizag as the executive capital which in fact, would help the businessmen there, a majority of whom belong to the community (Kammas), Nani pointed out.

He fumed at the opposition parties for trying to scuttle the efforts of the YCP government in setting up three capitals, which he said, was aimed at decentralization and comprehensive development of the state.

Further, he alleged that Chandrababu, his followers and the yellow media were only trying to mislead the people by insisting on the sacrifices by the farmers. The state government needs nearly Rs 3-4 lakh crore for construction of the capital in Amaravati but the government cannot afford it, he said.

He also charged the TDP government with resorting to several irregularities in Amaravati and also discriminating the Dalits in the region. Dalits were driven away from the capital region stating that they were encroaching 1,100 acres of land. Fearing that the government would take over the assigned lands, the Dalits sold them at dirt cheap rates to Naidu’s benamis. Later, the TDP government issued GO stating that the benamis would be allotted 800-square yard plots. This is complete cheating and the CID filed cases in this regard, he said.

The CRDA limits were extended up to 50 km radius of Vijayawada and when the YCP government tried to allocate 700 acres to them along with house sites, the TDP men approached the court and cited that there would be imbalance, he pointed out. Not a single poor man is being allowed into the Amaravati lands, he said.
