Yet again the differences between Telangana Raj Bhavan and Pragathi Bhavan have hit the headlines. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan is said to have put key bills on hold that were passed in the Telangana Assembly and this has brought a panic sort of situation in the TRS government sources.
Going into details, two fresh bills and six amendment bills that were unanimously approved by the Telangana government, were sent to Raj Bhavan for Governor’s stamp. We hear that Governor Tamilisai is yet to take a call on them.
When asked about the pending bills approval, Governor Tamilisai replied that the decision to approve is completely within her purview. “As the Governor, I have wider powers but will look into those bills and take a decision soon,” said Governor Tamilisai.
Bills such as common board for recruitment in state run universities, amendments to the Municipality Act, Azamabad Industrial Development Act and Forest university bills are pending with the Governor. The Telangana government has been waiting for Governor’s approval but the bills are lying in Raj Bhavan for months now.
This is mainly due to the cold war between Governor Tamilisai and Telangana CM KCR. Post declining to nominate Kaushik Reddy’s candidature for MLC, there occurred a gap between Governor and CM. Since then the Governor has been alleging that she is being insulted deliberately by the Telangana government. But CM KCR never reacted to the Governor’s comments yet many TRS leaders openly criticised Tamilisai.
