Naidu’s survey reveals Lokesh’s performance

TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu advised party general secretary and party scion N. Lokesh to improve his performance in his constituency, Mangalagiri. According to reports, Naidu met with Lokesh recently and reviewed his performance, as part of the regular meetings with the party’s constituency heads. The TDP chief reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over Lokesh not being able to redress people’s grievances in Mangalagiri.

Lokesh is good at publicizing his work and programmes on media and if one goes by that content, one would definitely say that the TDP leader is doing a lot to his constituency but the survey done by Naidu’s trusted lieutenants revealed a contrary picture. Reportedly, Lokesh got less marks in the survey.

Alerted by the results, Naidu called for Lokesh and admonished him for his negligence. In fact, the TDP leaders pinned hopes on Lokesh’s victory during the 2019 elections itself. As Lokesh hails from the Nara family, they strongly believed that he would win for sure as neither the Nandamuri family nor the Nara family members are known for losing elections during their maiden contest, unless there is an extraordinary political crisis in that specific constituency. However, Lokesh lost from Mangalagiri even though it was his maiden contest and even his rivals were not strong contenders. Further, the YCP leader in the constituency won against Lokesh with a huge margin.

In the wake of such a situation, Naidu took a vow to ensure that Lokesh should win from the Mangalagiri constituency and had been taking all necessary measures in the same direction.

Accordingly, Lokesh had been visiting the constituency twice in a month and assuring the people of resolving the problems, apart from distributing tools and vehicles necessary for self-employed youth and street vendors. Lokesh and his team have been reportedly noting down the grievances of the public during his visit. However, his efforts did not pay him off in the survey conducted by Naidu’s team.

There is talk that people were regularly attending Lokesh’s meetings and pouring out their woes but the TDP leader reportedly has been focusing on making the issues political rather than finding a solution for them.  Further, he is also found to be criticizing the government in front of the public for the inefficiency in the implementation of the programmes.

It would be better if Lokesh can focus on grievance redressal rather than criticize and make every aberration into a political issue. Such an approach would help Lokesh to get a troubleshooter image and gain credibility among the voters, suggest political observers.
