After landing in Vizag on Friday, PM Narendra Modi met Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan followed by AP BJP core committee. This meeting with AP BJP had the presences of chief Somu Veerraju, GVL Narasimha Rao, Daggubati Purandeshwari, Vishnu Vardhan Reddy and other AP BJP leader which lasted nearly for 90 minutes. But a shocking incident took place that embarrassed AP BJP chief Somu Veerraju.
Seeing Veerraju, PM Modi reportedly asked his name? Shocked by this question, Somu sported a puzzled face. Not stopping here, Modi went on to ask ‘What do you (Somu) do apart from politics?’
Somu has a long association with RSS and it was really astonishing that PM Modi failed to recognize Somu Veerraju who has been a big voice for BJP in AP. Somu fumbled to reply to Modi’s questions and he felt awkward when Modi asked what Somu’s other activities besides politics were?
Then, during the discussion, PM Modi asked the number of districts in AP. Somu was quick to reply and he said ‘21 sir.’ Well Somu found himself on the wrong foot as there are 26 districts in AP and senior leader Purandeshwari corrected Somu.
PM Modi’s interaction with Somu Veerraju is now a hot topic for debate in AP BJP. Did Modi deliberately question Somu his name and the details of districts in the state? Or Was it true that Modi had no clue about Somu’s existence in the party? Or is this an indication that the BJP leadership is unhappy with Somu?
