Is Sharmila Spending Rs 20 Lakh Daily On Paadayatra?

YSRTP chief YS Sharmila’s arrest has heated up the Telangana politics. Her comments against Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy led to attack on her convoy vehicles and eventually she was arrested in Hyderabad in dramatic scenes.

Sharmila alleged that Peddi Sudarshan Reddy amassed huge wealth worth thousands of crores. In his first reaction the MLA responded and Sudarshan Reddy denied any such allegations. “If Sharmila or any YSRTP leader proves that I indulged in corruption, I’m ready for anything in the people’s court,” challenged Peddi and he returned the allegations. “Sharmila’s Paadayatra is costing Rs 20 to Rs 30 Lakh daily. From where she is getting so much money?,” questioned the TRS MLA in a news channel’s live debate.

The YSRTP spokesperson clarified that the customised bus arranged for Sharmila is owned by her but refused to delve into more details of the finances of Paadyatra. He added that people are voluntarily joining Sharmila’s Paadyatra and seeing such reception, the TRS has resorted to cheap politics.

As alleged by the TRS MLA, Rs 20 Lakh to Rs 30 Lakh per day for the Paadayatra is a lot of money. Recently Sharmila has completed 3500 kilometres in 222 days. Rs 20 Lakh multiplied by 222 days equals to Rs 44.40 crore. There were some reports too that women who walked with Sharmila were offered Rs 300 per day and there were cases too where the women weren’t paid and they protested against YSRTP leaders.
