TPCC President and the MP of the Malkajgiri constituency, A. Revanth Reddy accused Union Minister N. Sitharaman of using “divisive language” in Parliament. He said he is a shudra and may not know good Hindi.
Speaking in the parliament the other day, Revanth Reddy said, “I am a Shudra, I may not know good Hindi. Nirmala Sitharaman ji may be a Brahmanwadi. So, her Hindi might be good.” Revanth made these comments in response to Nirmala Sitharaman’s remarks about his question regarding the rupee depreciation.
“The person who hails from Telangana says that his Hindi is weak. My Hindi is also weak. But I will respond to weak Hindi with weak Hindi,” she said.
Later, Revanth Reddy posted Sitharaman’s video clipping on Twitter and wrote, “It is regretful how @FinMinIndia @nsitharaman used such divisive language in the Parliament. Like Britishers, BJP has always followed the Politics of Divide & rule. They have divided the people of the country on the basis of language, food, caste & religion.”
Meanwhile, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla said criticized Reddy’s comments and said that MPs should not refer to caste and religion in the house of parliament. “We are not elected on the basis of caste or religion,” he stated.
