Jagan Is An Incapable Leader: Union Minister

The YCP cadre and media organisations favouring the party keep praising Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as a hero and charismatic leader yet humble as he cares for the poor and underprivileged. They also claim that various welfare programmes being implemented by their government are being replicated in other states, as they are helping Andhra Pradesh remain an ideal state.

At such a time, Union minister Devusinh Jesingbhai Chauhan launched a broadside against Jagan.

AP is being governed by an incapable leader, he said and added that the state was in dire straits. The Union minister also said that Jagan had lost popularity within a very short duration. The CM had failed in delivering good governance, he felt and also pointed out that he is not capable of utilizing funds allocated by the Centre.

The Union minister of state for communications said that the governance was so pathetic in the state that the sarpanches of AP are submitting memoranda to the Centre in New Delhi. He said that the 14th and 15th planning commissions sanctioned funds for rural development but the YCP government had tactfully diverted the money. This is akin to an attack on the Gram Swarajya principle, he said.

The funds sanctioned for panchayats should be used for rural development but that is not happening in AP. Government staff and pensioners are facing problems due to non-payment of salaries, he said.

Chauhan also said that government funds were being distributed among the volunteers. There are doubts that the YCP government is using the volunteers only to pin down the opposition parties, he said.

Stating that Andhra Pradesh was facing economic crisis, he predicted that the YCP government would not be able win at least one MP seat in the next elections. The Centre sanctioned 20 lakh houses to Andhra Pradesh but not even one house has been constructed here, he pointed out.

People are not happy with the YCP rule in the state, he said.

It has to be seen how the YCP leaders would react to the Union minister’s comments.
