MLC Polls: Big Confusion b/w BJP and Jana Sena

Last week the Election Commission announced the election schedule to the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council. 13 MLCs will be elected including one from the North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) Graduates’ Constituency and the polling is scheduled on March 13th. All the major parties are gearing up for this election but there is a confusion between BJP and Jana Sena.

BJP leader P.V.N. Madhav has announced contesting the MLC election and he went one step ahead and added that he has the support of both BJP and Jana Sena. Andhra Pradesh BJP in-charge Sunil Deodhar confirmed Madhav’s candidature and Sunil went on to add that BJP and Jana Sena will contest 2024 elections with coalition.

But these comments invited no response from Jana Sena. Chief Pawan Kalyan who reacts to every issue, remained unavailable to comment while Nadella Manohar who is number two in the party is yet to open up on MLC elections. Even Naga Babu and other Jana Sena leaders have gone silent over the polls. None of the Jana Sena leaders appealed to the graduates to vote for Madhav and strengthen the bond between BJP and Jana Sena.

On the contrary, BJP claims that it has the support of Jana Sena. “Telugu Desam and YCP are regional and dynasty based parties and both have miserably failed to run an efficient government. The time is up for both the parties and people will not vote for them. AP’s rebuilding is only possible with a national party like BJP,” said Sunil Deodhar.

Criticism is pouring down from a corner on the BJP as it announced the candidate without any knowledge from Jana Sena. The Vizag cadre of Jana Sena did not respond on Madhav’s candidature and there is a big confusion going on. Amidst this uncertainty, the BJP claims that all is well and Madhav will contest and continue his winning streak.
