The growing misuse of artificial intelligence to create degrading and manipulated videos of film personalities has prompted Megastar Chiranjeevi to seek action at the highest level. The actor met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Hyderabad, urging stronger measures to prevent the misuse of AI and deepfake technology against members of the film industry. Chiranjeevi was accompanied by his son Ram Charan, during the meeting.
Chiranjeevi had recently highlighted the issue on X, drawing attention to the disturbing trend of morphed videos targeting artists. Taking his concerns a step further, he sought a personal meeting with the Union Home Minister to explain how such practices threaten not only the dignity and reputation of individuals but also their rights over creative content.
The meeting brought the need for effective safeguards into focus, with Chiranjeevi making a case for strict action against those who exploit these technologies to produce and spread harmful material. His appeal reflects a broader concern within the film fraternity over the challenges posed by rapidly advancing digital tools and the need to ensure their responsible use.
Amit Shah acknowledged the concerns and assured the actor that the Government would examine the issue urgently. He indicated that stronger safeguards and strict penalties against misuse would be explored. The Home Minister also asked Chiranjeevi to submit a written representation and entrusted G Kishan Reddy with coordinating the matter.
Chiranjeevi welcomed the assurance and thanked Amit Shah for his positive response.
