Vizag Is Only Capital Of AP, Confirms FM

Minister of Finance and Legislative Affairs of Andhra Pradesh Buggana Rajendranath Reddy has made some interesting comments on AP capital. Buggana made it clear that Visakhapatnam remains to be the only capital of the state. He added that there will be a High Court principal bench set up in Kurnool and the one session of Assembly per year would be held at Guntur.

Buggana is in Bengaluru to promote the forthcoming ‘Global Investment Summit’ to be held in Vizag on March 3,4. Responding to a question from the industrialists on why Vijayawada or Tirupati was not chosen as the state capital, minister Buggana explained the reason for choosing Visakhapatnam as the capital. The minister said Vizag has a lot of potential to grow. He said Vizag has an advantage of a harbour city and also has cosmopolitan culture. Buggana said Vizag will be developed on par with Hyderabad and Chennai in future and also said there is a big scope for IT companies and investments to come to Vizag since there is infrastructure and IT parks already set up in the city.

Giving Karnataka’s Belagavi as an example where one Karnataka Assembly session takes place every year, minister Buggana said likewise one session of AP Assembly to be held at Guntur. He said the government has taken such a decision to avoid regional disparities that may arise in future. Reasoning why Tirupati was not chosen as the capital, minister Buggana said the Temple town doesn’t just belong to AP alone and the Temple town of Lord Venkateswara is the devotional capital of the whole world.

IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath who was also present stated that the IT giant Infosys will start its operations in Vizag within two months. He said Infosys will start its operations with about 1000 employees.

Finance Minister Buggana said AP is going to bring Inland Water Policy to facilitate more investments for AP. He said AP is one among the top 4 best choices for investments in the country declared by Niti Aayog due to its natural advantages. Minister said AP has a huge land bank of 48,352 acres of land for setting up investments.
