On Thursday former minister Kanna Lakshmi Narayana formally joined the Telugu Desam. But that’s not the end of the story yet as Kanna has been handed over a huge task by none other than TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, says the party insiders. This task has terms and conditions and a big promise is that Naidu assured cabinet berth in case TDP is voted to power in the next elections.
Well the task is to convince and divert the Kapu community towards TDP from YCP. In that line, TDP sources say that very soon Kanna will be travelling across the state and will be meeting Kapu community leaders in every constituency. He will elaborate the work done by TDP government to the Kapu community and then gain their moral support that can be helpful during the elections.
Apparently Kanna is of the same opinion and on joining TDP, he added that many politicians not just from Guntur district but all over the state are looking at TDP. Kanna’s entry has boosted the chances of the party for many reasons.
For example TDP has noteable Kapu community leaders like Nimmala Ramanaidu, Nimmakayala Chinnarajappa. However, they failed to make an impact among the Kapu community and so a major section of the vote bank was diverted in the previous elections. In this context, TDP cadre says that Chandrababu has given the task of fielding a strong leader like Kanna who will definitely add value to the party.
