#VizagSummit: A Show Of Unthinkable Numbers?

Since the day YS Jaganmohan Reddy took over AP government from Telugu Desam less than four years ago, there have been strong objections regarding the industrial policy. The YCP government drove out many industries established during the TDP regime and no significant industry established its base in the state post 2019.

YCP was very much aware of industries walking out of AP and the ruling party leaders had no answers when industries were vacating one after another. The YCP government tried to do damage control and accordingly CM Jagan visited Davos last year. Unfortunately Jagan’s tour was a dump squid, feels Opposition. This year, Jagan skipped going to Davos and when asked about the same, YCP minister Gudivada Amarnath replied that AP is hosting the Global Investors Summit and all the business tycoons will be landing in Vizag.

The summit finally commenced on Friday after doing a series of organized events in Delhi and Hyderabad. Usually when such summits are held, the state government announces the total investments and MoUs signed after the conclusion. But on the first day CM Jagan had announced the state government received Rs 13 Lakh crore investments which are remarkably beyond expectations.

The YCP government informed that the investments it received to the media and the social media went haywire over the numbers. After a thorough check into the details of these investments, one might come to an opinion that the announcement of Rs 13 Lakh crore is nothing but a gimmick, says TDP leaders.

YCP MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju says that Companies that do not have a capital of Rs 100 crore, are said to have come forward to invest Rs 8000 crore and NTPC which has been operating for decades, assured to invest Rs 2.35 Lakh crore and provide employment to 70,000 people, where as NTPC current employees count is around 15,000.

Netizens who noted these observations trolled AP CM Jagan and the YCP government mercilessly. Juggling with unthinkable numbers will serve no purpose except embarrassing the state before the nation, opined the netizens.

While the investments announcement was a shocker, the scuffle for return gift kits planned by AP government for the delegates and chaotic atmosphere at the food court, shamed the Jagan government. What’s surprising is that many I-PAC team members were allegedly spotted at the summit and they tried their level best to give an elevation to AP government. In the end, the show turned out to be a Goebbels summit instead of a global summit.
