Row Over Bandi Sanjay ‘Kiss’ Comments Against Kavitha

Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay’s comments against BRS MLC and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha kicked up a storm. The BRS leaders have launched a protest against Sanjay’s comments asking would the Enforcement Directorate ‘kiss’ her without arresting her for the type of crime she had committed (Arrest cheyakunte muddhu pettukuntara). “One wicket in KCR’s family is clean bowled,” Sanjay added.

Kavitha appeared before the ED sleuths this morning, in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam, in the national capital and KCR himself had said that she is likely to be arrested. The BRS leaders and activists, both in Telangana and Delhi, condemned Sanjay’s remarks. They said that such remarks were objectionable against a woman elected representative. The Telangana Women Commission also took exception to the state BJP chief’s comment and served notices to him. They had burnt Sanjay in effigy at several places in the state and in the national capital.

Taking Bandi’s comments as suo moto, the Women Commission had directed the DGP to conduct a probe into the issue, after which he would have to submit a report to the women’s panel.

The Commission also summoned Sanjay but the date of deposing before the panel is yet to be finalized. With the Women Commission taking serious cognizance of his comments, Bandi will either have to withdraw his comments or apologize to Kavitha.

It is pertinent to note that the International Women’s Day was observed just a couple of days ago when the male political leaders eulogized women in their lives and society. Such insulting and indecent remarks show that the Telangana BJP chief has no respect towards women, said other women leaders of the BRS.
