The Supreme Court of India has issued a stay on the anticipatory (pre-arrest) bail of Kadapa MP Avinash Reddy who is being questioned by the CBI in connection with the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy. However the Supreme Court granted a minor relief to Avinash Reddy as it asked the CBI not to arrest the Kadapa MP till Monday i.e, April 24th.
Based on the anticipatory bail, Dr. Sunitha Reddy, daughter of Viveka approached the Supreme Court on Thursday. This petition was taken up on Friday and the court heard arguments from both sides. Avinash Reddy’s advocates informed the court that if a stay is issued on the anticipatory bail, the CBI will arrest the MP.
After hearing all the arguments, the Supreme Court issued a stay on High Court’s anticipatory bail order and simultaneously directed the CBI not to arrest Avinash till April 24th. But Avinash and Sunitha need to file counters on Monday.
Dr. Sunitha’s lawyer informed the court that Avinash Reddy was the first person to reach the murder spot and he informed the media that Viveka died of heart-stroke and later it was detected as murder.
Since the Supreme Court has set a deadline for the CBI on Viveka’s case, Monday’s hearing is going to be crucial. If the Supreme Court removes the bail order, CBI would definitely arrest Avinash and may charge him of the murder. But if the Supreme Court keeps the bail order intact, there would be another twist.
