Politics is unpredictable. The leaders can go to any extent from promising the sky to misleading the public by creating confusion among them.
The TDP is alleging that the YCP’s sticker campaign is being carried out by the party leaders with a strategy to identify pro-YCP and anti-YCP electorate. The ministers and senior party leaders are actively involved in the programme, sticking ‘Maa Nammakam Nuvve Jagan’ posters on the walls of every house. At the same time, they are also trying to understand the people’s pulse about the YCP, the TDP men said.
The YCP leaders are trying to assess the voters by their reaction. If the people say that they do not want the sticker on the house or remove the sticker within two days after being stuck to the wall, they are being considered against the YCP. In such a case, they will try to convince the specific voters that the YCP aims at their prosperity and that they should vote for it. If the party leaders or volunteers feel that the voter in point is not getting convinced, then there are allegations that the party is trying to manipulate with such votes, alleged the TDP.
There are reports that the YCP is planning to confuse such voters by ensuring that they fail to identify in which booth they should cast their vote. Usually, any voter goes to the nearby booth to exercise his/her franchise but here the officials do not have his/her name in the list and then they keep searching for the name and finally, do not cast the vote. This strategy will reduce the votes against the YCP and increase chances of victory.
However, there are doubts about these allegations because the Election Commission issues voter slips to the voters. The voter will have information about the ward number, polling booth number and the place where he/she has to cast his vote. So far, elections were never held without issuing voter slips. Even the state government will not interfere in this process. If such a procedure is in place, how can the TDP make such allegations that the YCP would hoodwink the electorate.
