Rumour: Alekhya Reddy Against Kodali Nani?

The TDP is considering winning the Gudivada constituency as a prestigious matter. For the last four elections, Kodali Nani had been winning from the constituency comfortably. The sharp criticism by Nani against TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu and his son Lokesh is another factor that has increased the determination of the TDP to put a check on him. However, the TDP chief is not able to find a suitable candidate to field as his rival.

At this time, Nandamuri Alekhya Reddy has come up for discussion. Alekhya is the wife of Nandamuri Taraka Ratna, who passed away recently. Naidu is of the opinion that fielding someone from the Nandamuri family might work out in Gudivada constituency as Kodali is a pro-NTR leader. When the idea of fielding someone from the Nandamuri family cropped up, Taraka Ratna, Chaitanya Krishna and Suhasini were considered as the potential rivals for Nani. Taraka Ratna showed interest to contest from the constituency but his sudden demise came as a shocker to the TDP.

There is buzz that Taraka Ratna’s uncle and MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna suggested the candidature of Alekhya Reddy. Naidu is also inclined to heed to Balakrishna’s advice. If all goes well, Alekhya Reddy will be the TDP candidate from Gudivada but there are doubts if she can give a tough competition to Nani.

Frequent change of the candidates is the prominent shortcoming of the TDP which is preventing it from winning the seat. The TDP has a strong cadre but due to lack of proper leadership in the constituency, victory has been evading the party. It would be better if Naidu understands this point.

Meanwhile, there is unrest among the TDP cadre following the buzz that Alekhya Reddy would be the party candidate in the next elections. Many of the party leaders are unhappy that they are being ignored despite working for the development of the party in the constituency. Is there any sympathy over the sudden demise of Taraka Ratna in Gudivada?
