YCP Should Start Listening To Criticism!

The YCP in Andhra Pradesh should consider the BJP’s defeat in neighbouring Karnataka as a lesson. Political observers felt that the YCP government should try to understand what had happened in Karnataka and try not to commit such mistakes, because there is a lot of similarity in the way the ruling party leaders in both the states are behaving with the public.

The BJP leaders in Karnataka were accused of going overboard and being mired in corruption by taking commissions for all types of government works. Further, their overconfidence that the central BJP leadership at the Centre would always be shielding them from all sorts of accusations took a beating, with the people denying power to them. The Kannadigas resented BJP leaders, a few of whom ignited communal clashes and neglected people’s welfare.

The BJP leaders refused to listen to the opposition leaders’ criticism over corruption and anarchy. These factors led to the BJP being defeated in Karnataka, even when it had won 104 seats during the last elections.

Political analysts feel that a similar situation is brewing in Andhra Pradesh too. The YCP leaders are least bothered about what the public or the opposition leaders are complaining about them. Their only confidence is that the public had given them a heavy mandate in the last elections and their boss Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will take care of everything by pressing buttons every now and then.

There is talk that the YCP leaders too are mired in corruption, busy filing cases against the opposition leaders and abusing them for every trivial issue, refusing to accept the ground realities, even when the opposition leaders are raising the same issues time and again. The opposition leaders even declared that they would unite to defeat the anarchy in the state.

In addition, the YCP government is only focused on protecting its vote bank not caring a hoot to development in the state. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is only interested in distributing money to the poor without thinking about how to generate the money for distribution. When people are worried about development, it is not right on the part of the CM to neglect that area.

All these factors might have an effect on the YCP in the next elections.
