Amaravati referendum: RRR claims to win bypolls by 1L votes

The rift between YCP rebel MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju and the party leaders has reached its peak. RRR has become ‘swapaksham lo ne vipaksham’. He has been criticising the government on every move and the YCP leaders too have been countering it. It is like RRR versus YCP in AP and the Amaravati issue is only adding to the chaos.

If an election is held with Amaravati as referendum, RRR exuded confidence that he would win the bypolls with a majority of at least 1 lakh votes. He reiterated that he had joined YCP only after invited by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He also took exception to minister Botsa Satyanarayana making remarks on his resignation.

Botsa said: “Let Raghurama Raju resign and go for elections. In what way is the party connected to his resignation? Is it any referendum?”

At the same time, Botsa said that people who resorted to corruption during pooling of lands for the Capital would not be spared. He said that funds would be gathered for completing buildings in Amaravati very soon.

Earlier, RRR had challenged minister Balineni Srinivas Reddy too. RR said: “If I quit my MP post and win the bye-elections, will the Chief Minister give it in writing that Amaravati would be continued as the capital?” he asked.

The rebel MP also said that he was ready to resign if the CM accepted the challenge. “Is your CM ready to accept the bypolls as a referendum to Amaravati?” he asked.

The MP has never left any chance to criticise the YCP government right from the day the it proposed to introduce English as the medium of instruction in government schools and he has been slamming it in every move.
