Regardless of their position of power, certain political leaders always make a lasting impression and leave a mark on the public. Among them are Konda Surekha and her husband, Konda Murali, influential politicians from the Warangal district in Telangana. Their political careers reached their peaks during the tenure of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Recently, the couple participated in an interview where they reflected on their political journey up to the present day.
The couple shared this revelation and added, “We didn’t regret resigning from the Congress party for YSR. However, we regretted our association with YS Jagan. To support him, we endured the ‘Telangana Drohi’ label for years.”
“Jagan possesses a devious mindset. When he staged a strike at Dharna Chowk, he shed tears due to the lack of public support. Overnight, I gathered 25,000 people and spent substantial money for the sake of YS Jagan,” Murali revealed.
Konda Murali also disclosed that the then Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy tempted them with multiple offers. “He offered me a contract worth 5,000 crore in Tirupathi. He asked me to persuade Surekha to return to the party. He even offered a ministry to Surekha and assured the extension of my MLC post. However, I rejected his offers and supported Jagan, who disregarded our significance as an MLC,” said Murali.
Surekha also expressed her thoughts on YS Sharmila’s political party. “I advised her against forming a political party in Telangana. If she is discontented with Jagan, she should establish a political party in Andhra Pradesh by aligning with the Congress. By dividing the votes of Christians and YSR supporters, KCR stands to benefit from YS Sharmila’s party,” revealed Surekha.
The couple also mentioned that they sought permission from the court to have personal security personnel. “I have three bodyguards, and Surekha has two. We never travel in the same car,” Murali stated.
