Why Srikantha Chary’s Mother Gets Call From KCR

Youngster Srikantha Chary was the first martyr in the 2009 Telangana separate statehood agitation. His sacrifice has intensified that the agitation and post this many students committed suicide. After statehood was achieved, the BRS party tried to acknowledge the sacrifice of Srikantha Chary but in a half-hearted act.

Chary’s mother Shankaramma was given MLA ticket in 2014 elections but she lost competing against the mighty Uttam Kumar Reddy. But in the 2018 elections she was snubbed and over the course of years, BRS could not give her the due recognition. From latest media reports we hear that Telangana CM KCR has called Shankaramma and she might be nominated for the MLC seat under Governor’s quota.

Apparently Shankaramma has been upset with the BRS party for a long time. She went on to make cryptic comments against the BRS party and leaders. There was an opinion that BRS forgot the valuable sacrifice of students and families of martyrs continue to mourn.

With elections around the corner, KCR led BRS party is leaving no stone unturned to win a third time. Accordingly Shankaramma’s episode was noticed by KCR and KTR. The BRS working president met Shankaramma recently and assured her that she will be given a suitable position in the party soon. Simultaneously KTR has conveyed the same message to KCR.

After the deliberations, we hear that KCR has decided to offer the MLC seat to Shankaramma and this would settle down the upset mood in the martyrs group. With directions from KCR, minister Jagadish Reddy was asked to bring Shankaramma to Pragathi Bhavan. Also the state government is inaugurating martyrs memorial tomorrow in Hyderabad and Shankaramma is being roped in as a symbol of sacrifice.
