2 Big Offers Awaiting For Sharmila – MP & AP!

Although YS Sharmila claims that she did not float YSR Telangana party (YSRTP) to merge with other parties, the ongoing talks between her and Congress biggies from high command suggest a different picture.

There is a strong buzz in political circles that Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has struck a deal between Sharmila and the Congress leadership. According to that, if she merges her party with the Congress, she will be sent to the Rajya Sabha from Karnataka.

As YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s daughter Sharmila made a name for herself with Paadayatra. Earlier, in support of her brother YS Jagan and went on a Paadayatra in undivided Andhra Pradesh. She established her own political outfit in Telangana called YSR Telangana Party after differences with brother Jagan. After forming a new party, she started a Paadayatra in Telangana and she acted a bit aggressively saying that they will do politics here. She used to lash out at the ruling BRS and CM KCR in high language which invited troubles for her.

It was strongly heard from the party circles that Sharmila will contest from Paleru in Khammam district. Although Sharmila’s influence is negligible all over Telangana, political analysts expect that she will split the votes of the Reddy community. What percentage of votes can she split? Apart from how insignificant it is, there is a fear among the Congress leaders that even if Sharmila gets half percent of the votes, when BRS, Congress and BJP are competing fiercely in Telangana, they will lose.

This is where the Congress played its card. Telangana PCC chief Revanth Reddy approached Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and requested to negotiate the terms. Shivakumar has close association with YSR family and his mediation worked. We hear that she was offered a Rajya Sabha ticket from Karnataka and the Congress high command is considering handing over the responsibilities of Andhra affairs.

Sharmila might accept a Rajya Sabha ticket but the big question is will she go against her brother, CM Jagan in AP? Whether Sharmila and mother Vijayamma are ready to face Jagan politically where he is the CM despite differences with his brother on political and economic issues. If that happens, it is certain that Sharmila’s joining the Congress will ignite AP politics rather than Telangana.
