The increasing migration into the TDP in Kurnool constituency is sending jitters down the spine of the YCP leadership. Infighting in the YCP has compounded the trouble for the party. The rivalry between Hafeez Khan and SV Mohan Reddy groups had failed to subside in the last four years, even after the duo was called to Tadepalli and counseled.
Sensing that the party’s image was taking a beating due to the infighting, the YCP is of the opinion to find an alternative to these leaders. The YCP fears that it would be tough for the party to face the stiff competition from TDP rival TG Bharat who has a strong hold over the constituency.
Reportedly, the YCP and its political consultant I-PAC have begun the hunt for new faces. It is learnt that the I-PAC team had already got in touch with ex-DCC chief Ahmad Ali Khan. Khan’s supporters also revealed that their leader is getting close to the YCP.
Recently, YCP president and Chief Mister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, during his tour in Pattikonda, interacted with wife of former MLA SV Mohan Reddy, Vijaya Manohari, for more than an hour leading to speculation that she could get the party ticket for the next elections.
It is learnt that a close aide of ex-CM YSR family, Sheikh Pula Basheer, is also in the race for the Kurnool MLA ticket. He tried for the YCP ticket in 2014 and 2019 but failed. Currently, he is working as the PRO of the YCP in Pulivendula and is now, eyeing the party ticket from Kurnool.
It has to be seen who would be able to secure the YCP ticket from Kurnool constituency for the upcoming 2024 elections.
