Telangana Folk Singer Saichand Passed Away

Folk singer and Telangana State Warehousing Corporation Chairman V. Sai Chander, popularly known as Saichand, passed away on June 29, 2023, due to a cardiac arrest. He was 39 years old. Saichand, who was an active participant in the separate Telangana State movement, played a significant role in promoting Telangana’s culture through his folk songs.

Saichand had spent the previous day at his farmhouse in Karukonda, Nagarkurnool district, with his family. Late at night, he experienced chest pain and was taken to a hospital in Nagarkurnool and later transferred to Care Hospital in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. He is survived by his wife, son, and daughter.

Chief Minister KCR expressed deep shock over Saichand’s untimely demise, stating that his contributions during the Telangana cultural movement would be remembered forever. The Chief Minister acknowledged Saichand’s role in the second phase of the Telangana struggle, where his songs played an integral part in cultural programs and public gatherings. The Chief Minister considered Saichand’s loss as irreparable, as he had been instrumental in igniting the spirit of the Telangana movement in previous years and raising awareness about development through his music.

Several political figures, including BRS working president KTR, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy, Rajya Sabha member J. Santosh Kumar, and Lok Sabha member Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, expressed their condolences and highlighted Saichand’s significant contribution to the movement. Other dignitaries, such as Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Finance and Health Minister T. Harish Rao, Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashath Reddy, and Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, also offered their condolences.

The Chief Minister assured the bereaved family of all necessary support during this difficult time and extended his deepest sympathies. The loss of Saichand has left a void in the hearts of those who appreciated his musical talent and his dedication to the Telangana cause.
