That’s Great Results For KCR Govt Efforts

IIT-JEE is considered one of the toughest exams in not just India but the entire world. It is ranked first in India and second in the globe. Cracking a tough exam needs concerted efforts and higher-level of training. Surprisingly, two students from the Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Centre of Excellence in Hayathnagar, Rangareddy district cleared the tough exam this year and scripted history.

The success of the two teenagers, Gogula Nithya Sri and Manepally Ravi Kumar, belonging to the Kolam community, recognized as the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) — a sub-category of Scheduled Tribes (ST), is something which the Telangana government can boast about as it reflects the efforts of not just the students but also their tutors.

This tribe has a low literacy rate and is also prone to a genetic blood disorder Thalassemia.

While Nithya Sri stood at the 182nd position in the ST category, Ravi Kumar stood a little ahead of her at 164th rank.

Though they could opt for computer science, Nithya Sri chose the Electronics and Communication branch as she got computer science only at IIT Guwahati, much far from her home. “So I chose IIT Kharagpur,” said Nithya, a native of Talagujyala village in Bellampally mandal.

She said that she wanted to make her name in the start-up field by setting up her own company as it would create more employment.

She completed her schooling in her village and took IIT coaching only at the TTW at Hayathnagar. She said that her teachers and peers, apart from seniors and the library had been of great help to her.

Nithya’s father is a home guard with the Telangana police while her mother is a homemaker who studied till Class VII. Both of her sisters are pursuing graduation in nursing.

Ravi Kumar is a native of Bopparam village in Kotapally mandal and his parents are farm labourers. His younger sister is pursuing graduation while younger brother is studying Class 12. Ravi Kumar is ready to pursue engineering in computer science at IIT-Tirupati as he got admission there for the rank he secured. He said that his ultimate goal is to crack the civil services examination.

English had been a barrier to both of them as they studied in Telugu medium since their childhood. They want to learn English and excel in life. However, the duo acknowledged that their families and friends had been a major source of support to them throughout their life.

Similarly, both of them are seeking financial aid to pursue engineering in at the premier institutions. They are finding it hard to pay the high fee as their fathers cannot afford for their education.

However, it is a big achievement for the tribal students as well as the Telangana government. This proud moment can be claimed to be a result of the Telangana government’s continuous efforts to lift the living conditions of the poor.
