A Tragic Demise: Telugu NRI’s Heartbreaking Loss

In a devastating incident near Mickler’s Beach in Jacksonville, FL, the Telugu Association of Jacksonville Area (TAJA) is deeply saddened to announce the sudden and unfortunate demise of Venkata Rajesh Kumar Potti, affectionately known as Rajesh Potti. Rajesh, a friendly and humble soul at the age of 44, tragically lost his life on July 1, 2023.

The incident unfolded as Rajesh and his family were enjoying a day of fun at Mickler’s Beach. While watching his children play in the water, Rajesh displayed immense bravery and selflessness when he noticed his 12-year-old son struggling in the powerful rip-current waves. Without hesitation, he rushed to his son’s aid, ultimately sacrificing his own life in the process. Rajesh’s son was swiftly airlifted to the Wolfson Children’s Hospital, where he currently remains in the intensive care unit, fighting for his recovery.

Rajesh was not only a loving husband but also a devoted father to his two children. As the sole breadwinner for his family, his untimely passing has left them in a state of profound grief and financial uncertainty. Originally from Addanki, Andhra Pradesh, India, Rajesh had embarked on a journey to the United States on October 1, 2022, in pursuit of the American dream. His family joined him here more recently, on May 23, 2023.

In light of this devastating loss, TAJA has initiated a fundraising campaign aimed at providing support during this difficult time. The funds raised will assist in completing the repatriation process, covering funeral expenses, medical bills, and offering near-term financial assistance to Rajesh’s family. TAJA humbly requests everyone to come forward and extend their support to the bereaved family, holding Rajesh in their thoughts and prayers.
