Talk: How To Put A Self Goal With Just Rs 20!

The recent decision by the YCP government to charge a fee of Rs 20 per person for visiting the beaches in Vizag has received a significant amount of backlash, both from tourists and locals.

Vizag is renowned for its beautiful beaches, and they have always been an integral part of the city’s charm. The introduction of compulsory tickets and the associated fee have sparked negative sentiments among the public, including the residents of Vizag.

This decision comes at a crucial time, as it may have an adverse impact on people’s perceptions, especially with elections on the horizon. Political analysts believe that such measures could create a negative image of the ruling YCP government among the public.

Interestingly, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed his intention to make Vizag the executive capital, indicating a vision for the city’s development. However, the introduction of entry fees for the beaches raises concerns about disturbing the flow.

The local population is particularly vocal in their opposition to this decision. The recent defeat of the YCP in the MLC polls in Uttarandhra suggests that all is not well for the party in Vizag. Now, the implementation of a small entry fee of Rs 20 for the beaches has further fueled negative sentiments among the people.

It is essential for the government to consider the opinions and concerns of the public, especially when it comes to decisions that impact the city’s identity and tourism potential. Striking a balance between generating revenue and preserving the city’s natural beauty and appeal is crucial for maintaining the goodwill of the people.

According to the tourism department’s regional director, Srinivas Pani, the decision to implement a ₹20 entry fee at Rushikonda beach is aimed at generating revenue for beach maintenance and infrastructure. He highlighted that the beach has recently received the prestigious ‘Blue Flag’ certification, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the beach requires monthly expenses of around ₹6 lakh. Additionally, the department has plans to further develop Rushikonda beach with an investment of ₹2.5 crore.
