Jagan & JP : What’s Brewing?

Published by

Ever since Loksatta Jayaprakash Narayan shared dais with CM YS Jagan at the diamond jubilee celebrations of Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Bank (APCOB), speculations are rife about JP’s entry into YSR Congress Party. Rumours are abuzz that JP may join YCP and CM Jagan offered him to contest for Vijayawada Lok Sabha on YCP ticket. Several social media teams swung into action in pushing this propaganda. The pictures of the duo sharing dais and their conversation video glimpses are widely shared and circulated online creating a lot of doubts.

JP’s attendance at APCOB event is not just the single reason that triggered such speculations. JP has been praising CM Jagan’s policy on education in Andhra Pradesh. In recent times, JP praised the Jagan administration’s various decisions. On the other hand, JP is opposing the exorbitant cost involved in the new Metro route around the ORR in Hyderabad. He found fault with urban development minister KTR and his government’s decision to splurge on the metro where the population is yet to spur up. His videos about Hyderabad metro criticising the BRS government garnered a lot of attention and became a talking point. In addition to these, JP’s growing bonhomie with CM Jagan added to the ongoing political speculations.

Loksatta Jayaprakash Narayan has a clean track record. As a former bureaucrat, he has extensive knowledge on various issues and practical experience to handle the situations. As a physician by education, JP has sound knowledge on medicine. He has a base of educated voters who support his political party. If JP’s image is added to YCP, it is going to be a benefit to the ruling party. Some pro-YCP social media handles have been widely circulating the news of JP’s entry into YCP.

However, it is learnt that Jayaprakash Narayan has no such thoughts. He has clearly denied any political association with any party on several occasions. He may support views of any political party based on issues and he may differ with them on issue based. Thus doesn’t mean he supports or opposes any political party openly. His political party has never been part of any political alliance so far.
