In a bone-chilling and very unfortunate incident that took place on Tirumala pedestrian route, a 6-year-old girl Lakshitha was attacked by a leopard and killed her. While the girl and her family started their trek on pedestrian route for Srivari Darshan on Friday night at around 8 pm. At around 11 pm, they reached Lakshmi Narasimha temple. They’re just 1 hour away from the Tirumala temple when the fateful incident took place. The leopard pounced on the girl and dragged her into the Seshachalam forest. The girl was trekking along with her family belonging to Nellore district’s Pothireddy Palem.
The helpless family alerted the police but they couldn’t conduct search operations in the night in the forest area. The security forces found the half-eaten body of the girl on Saturday morning. The girl’s body was found few metres away from the Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. Initially, the vigilance and police suspected it as a bear’s attack. But after recovering the girl’s body, they conducted medical examination at Tirupati Ria hospital. The doctors declared it as a leopard attack. The officials have handed over the girl’s body to the family and made arrangements for the shifting of body to their native place in Nellore. The heartbroken family is inconsolable due to their grief.
This is second such incident in a month in Tirumala. A month ago, a three-year-old boy was rescued safely by security forces from leopard after it dragged him into the forest at the 7th mile on Alipiri – Tirumala road. Leopards are attacking the pedestrians during the night time.
