With an eye on securing a hat-trick victory, Narendra Modi is strategizing for the upcoming elections as India’s political dynamics evolve. As alliances and opposition unite to challenge the NDA, which holds power, Modi’s BJP is carefully recalibrating its approach. The BJP secured 303 MPs in the 2019 elections, and Modi’s new goal is to surpass that number in the impending elections.
In pursuit of this objective, Modi has devised a strategy to identify underperforming incumbents among the current MPs. His plan entails giving opportunities to new candidates in place of those whose performance has been subpar.
This approach has led to the compilation of a list of approximately 65 MPs who are perceived to be lacking in effectiveness. A majority of these MPs hail from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi. Factors such as age, inadequate performance, and waning interest in the electoral process contribute to their inability to enhance their standing. JP Nadda, the National President, maintains consistent communication with these MPs, though changes are being contemplated if performance remains stagnant.
Modi’s resolve to search for alternatives underscores his commitment to delivering a hat-trick victory. His focus is on revitalizing the competition by inviting younger candidates and Rajya Sabha MPs to contest the constituencies represented by the 65 underperforming MPs. The prospect of Rajya Sabha MPs vying for Lok Sabha seats signals a paradigm shift.
The realization that a decisive approach is vital for securing victory has prompted Modi to take action. The party conducted dedicated programs nationwide from May 30 to June 30 upon assuming power. However, nearly 100 MPs were observed not actively participated in these initiatives. Reports indicated that the performance of the 65 MPs in question was unsatisfactory. This assessment forms the basis of the decision to recalibrate the party’s approach and revitalize their presence in the competition.
