Union Minister Suresh Angadi Passes Away Due to COVID-19

Minister of State for Railways, Suresh Agnadi passed away in Delhi AIIMS, while he was undergoing treatment for Covid-19. Initially, he was asymptomatic and he tested positive for Covid-19 on September 11. Later, the BJP MP was admitted to AIIMS Trauma Centre, a dedicated Covid care facility, where he passed away. He was 65.

Suresh Angadi represented the Belagavi constituency in the Lok Sabha from BJP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed the condolences to the family on Angadi’s passing away.

Modi’s tweet read, “Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to make the Party strong in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective Minister, admired across the spectrum. His demise is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti”.

Angadi was a four-time Lok Sabha MP from Karnataka’s Belagavi constituency. He was elected in 2004, 2014 and 2019. He was born in Koppa village of Belagavi and obtained a law degree from the Raja Lakhamgouda Law College in the district.

So far, nine Union ministers have tested positive for Coronavirus. Home Minister Amit Shah and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari have been recovering.
