In a surprising turn of events, AP Governor Abdul Nazir has expressed astonishment regarding the arrest of TDP chief and former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
According to media reports, the Governor is displeased with the lack of information provided in this matter. It has come to light that neither the Governor nor the Governor’s office was approached by CID officials regarding Chandrababu’s arrest in connection with the skill development case.
It’s worth noting that, under the Prevention of Corruption Act, obtaining the Governor’s permission is mandatory to arrest a former Chief Minister. Since the law was amended in 2018, the Governor’s consent is a requisite.
Reliable sources indicate that the Governor was not informed about Chandrababu’s arrest today and only learned of the situation through media reports. This has raised questions about whether Chandrababu’s arrest was conducted without the necessary Governor’s permission.
