TDP – Janasena Alliance: Local Leaders’ Cat Fights!

The top leadership of TDP and Janasena party might have a large heart to announce the alliance “unconditionally”. However, the local leadership of both parties are having a tough time. Particularly in Godavari districts, differences are out in the open between the leaders of the four-decade-old TDP and the less-than-a-decade-old Janasena.

During a coordination meeting between TDP and Janasena leaders at Pithapuram of East Godavari district, a war of words broke out between Janasena and TDP. It all happened when Janasena leaders questioned TDP’s Varma over the lack of development in the constituency during the earlier TDP regime.

Interrupting the TDP leader Varma’s speech, the question was posed why did the people defeat their party if the previous TDP government had allocated funds for constituency development? Understandably, this enraged Varma’s associates. Soon it snowballed into a major argument between TDP and Janasena leaders. The video of the arguments went viral on social media platforms. YSRCP’s social media took complete advantage of this and widely shared it.

In a similar incident, a meeting between the TDP and Janasena leaders took place today at Anakapalle. While arguments surfaced between the two groups among Janasena, TDP leaders intervened. But the meeting got disrupted due to this.

No doubt such incidents are not uncommon, but certainly, the fact remains that it is not going to be easy for the TDP and Janasena leaders and party workers – especially in the Godavari districts. While Janasena is expecting the seats in Godavari districts as part of the poll tie-up, this could eventually hurt the TDP’s senior leaders who have been working for the party for the last 5 years facing all hardships despite being in the opposition.

How does Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan iron out such differences between local leadership and how do they steer the alliance in the upcoming elections remain crucial.
