Ex-Naxalite To Become Telangana Home Minister?

With Revanth Reddy announced as the new chief minister of Telangana, his camp in Congress is expecting big-weight portfolios in the cabinet. One of the most important members of Revanth’s camp is MLA Dansari Anasuya, widely popular as Seethakka.

Seethakka was once in the Naxalite movement, joined the Janashakti Naxal group when she was 14 years old. She was quickly disillusioned with the movement and exited it after an eleven-year stint. She surrendered to the police under the general amnesty plan in 1997. She then pursued her studies and became a lawyer. In 2022, she completed her Ph.D. in political science from Osmania University.

She later joined into the politics and quickly emerging as one of the mass leaders in Telangana. She is a respected MLA as she fought fiercely for the underprivileged in her area and brought up many prevailing issues in the assembly. There were times when even BRS MLAs appreciated her for her honest work.

Now Seethakka has emerged as one of the favorites for the Home Minister post in Telangana. Her close association with Revanth, her earnest image, and her mass appeal have led her to become a hot favorite for the important Home Minister portfolio.

Encouraging an earnest leader like Seethakka will reflect well on Congress and Revanth so the chances are that she might be strengthened for the home ministry post. If she does end up with the portfolio, Seethakka’s life would come full circle from being a Naxalite in remote areas of Telangana to later becoming the home minister of the state.
