Separate Manifesto For BCs: Lokesh

Nara Lokesh announced that a separate manifesto for the Backward Castes (BCs) will be unveiled. As the general elections in AP are nearing, TDP is gearing up to woo the voters. Since BCs play a dominant role, TDP is leaving no stone unturned to get their support. TDP is going to start the ‘Jayaho BC’ campaign from January 4. On Friday, Lokesh said the purpose of this program is to assess the challenges faced by the Backward Classes in the state.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters, Lokesh emphasized that the TDP, being the birthplace for the Backward Classes, has a historical commitment to their welfare. He recalled the party founder, the late NT Rama Rao, allocating key portfolios to the community and implementing a 24% reservation, later increased to 34% by Chandrababu Naidu.

Expressing concern over the alleged neglect of Backward Classes under Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s leadership, Lokesh criticized the administration for instances of violence against individuals from the community, citing the inhumane killing of Amarnath Goud.

Lokesh accused the ruling YSRCP leaders of unlawfully occupying lands belonging to Backward Classes and highlighted issues such as non-repayment of deposits under the Aadarana scheme and financial troubles faced by BC Corporation directors.

He further asserted that false cases were being filed against senior TDP leaders, and he pledged personal responsibility for fulfilling promises made during his previous padayatra. Lokesh promised to enact legislation for the safety of Backward Classes, issue permanent caste certificates through technology, and revive the 10% reservation for BCs in local bodies once the TDP regains power in the upcoming polls.

Lokesh revealed plans for a workshop led by TDP supremo and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to discuss the implementation of the “Jayaho BC” program. Meetings will be organized at various levels, including Lok Sabha constituency headquarters, Assembly segments, and mandals. The initiative will culminate in a major public meeting at the state level, where a separate manifesto for the Backward Classes will be unveiled.
