Anganwadis End Protest, YCP Govt Approves 10/13 Demands

The Anganwadi workers who have been protesting for the last 6 weeks in Andhra Pradesh have finally called it quits for the protest. They ended the protest after a round of successful talks with Botsa Sathyanarayana and Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy.

The government approved 10 out of the 13 demands that were put before them by the Anganwadis. The most important promise being the hike of salaries in July this year. The government gave it in writing that the salaries will be hiked in July.

This puts a peaceful end to a violent and agitating campaign that lasted 6 weeks where the government imposed ESMA and even ordered firing of protesting workers. In the end, Jagan decided not to have an ugly protest and consequences Bandhs in AP right before the elections.

Anganwadis workers requested the government to pay them salaries for the period when they were protesting and dispel the cases that were filed against them. Jagan will take the final call on this soon.

But for the time being, Anganwadi workers have quit their protests and will be tending to their duties from now.
