The BRS’ defeat in the recently-held elections seems to be having a debilitating effect on the party. The four leaders, who played a pivotal role in the party when in power, are now disintegrated with the BRS boss also showing least interest in pulling them on to the main track. The BRS boss has fallen into the defensive mode after the party’s defeat and Congress targeting ‘embezzlement of funds’ by the previous government.
During the last 10 years of the BRS rule, these four leaders – KT Rama Rao, K. Kavitha, T. Harish Rao and Joginapalli Santosh, had been very active in coordinating with other leaders and helping the party boss take crucial decisions. They had a strong say in the party affairs but after the recent drubbing at the elections, these leaders have separated ways. When in power, these leaders spearheaded the coordination of the cadre too but now, these leaders are going in different directions leading to confusion among the party functionaries.
After the defeat in the elections, even KCR is being inconspicuous. He is absent from the Assembly sessions too. There is buzz that he is not able to understand how to face Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and confront the allegations regarding corruption and irregularities during his rule. KCR’s nephew T. Harish Rao is heading the legislative team and it is more like a one man show by him. Even KCR’s son KT Rama Rao had failed to withstand the attack by the ruling Congress, thus bringing Harish Rao into focus.
Kavitha is accused in the multi-crore Delhi Liquor Scam and she is dreading to make any utterances against the BJP. There is buzz that Santosh is sulking for not being given the RS nomination for a second time. Santosh is almost out of activity in the political circles.
In such a situation, the BRS cadre is worried over the results of the upcoming general elections.
