TDP’s Second List To Be Out Today?

The TDP has readied the second list for the upcoming Assembly elections.

According to sources, TDP boss N. Chandrababu Naidu has completed all work relating to the list and is likely to make it public on Thursday (March 14, 2024).

It is being said that JSP chief Pawan Kalyan and Naidu together would release the second list. Pawan Kalyan is also likely to announce the names of eight candidates to contest from the party.

However, there is no information about the BJP. It has to be seen if it will join the TDP-JSP alliance and announce its candidates too.

It is learnt that Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekawat, AP BJP state unit president Daggubati Purandeswari had discussed about their party candidates list with Naidu. There is a clarity on the constituencies and the candidates to be fielded from those places but Shekawat would submit the same to BJP national president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The final list would be announced only after the Central BJP leaders give their consent.

There is clarity about seat sharing among the three parties. The choice of candidates from the constituencies is completely left to the discretion of the individual parties.

The TDP has to declare candidates from 50 constituencies. Similarly, the Jana Sena has announced the names of only five candidates in the first list which means the names of 16 more candidates are yet to be declared.

However, there is no clarity on whether the TDP and Jana Sena would declare the names of all the remaining candidates at the same time.

Coming to the Parliamentary seats, the TDP would field candidates from 17 constituencies, BJP from six and JSP from two constituencies.

In fact, picking candidates for the Parliamentary constituencies is challenging compared to the Assembly segments because the former can have a say over the candidates from Assembly segments only if they are deep-pocketed. It is only then that there will be some coordination among the MLA candidates and the MP contestant.

It has to be seen what would Naidu and Pawan Kalyan decide in the last minute.
