Why So Many Nominations Against Lokesh In Mangalagiri?

Mangalagiri assembly constituency will be one of the main topics of discussion in the Telugu circles on the 4th of June when the Andhra Pradesh election results will be out. This constituency has Nara Lokesh in the contest and this election is of quintessential importance for him, considering the 2019 defeat. A win here is a must for Lokesh.

Coming to the number of nominations filed in Mangalagiri, a whopping 65 nominations have been filed here, which is the highest for any star constituency in AP. This surprisingly high number of nominations from Mangalagiri is being seen as a tactic by the ruling party to try and enforce vote diversion and create a false perception of over-competition by political experts.

To put that into perspective, Jagan’s Pulivendula has 37 nominations which is nearly half as that of Mangalagiri’s. The count is at 22 in Kuppam which has Chandrababu Naidu in the contest.

In Pawan’s Pithapuram and Balakrishna’s Hindupur, the count is 19 each, which is substantially less than what is seen in Mangalagiri.

While these diversion tactics are on one side, Nara Lokesh has confidently promised Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan that he would win Mangalagiry by at least 50,000 votes majority. His main opponent here is YCP’s Murugudu Lavanya.
