Though the TDP is not contesting from Telangana, the party is still in demand in Khammam.
It is worth noting during the recently held Assembly elections, the Congress candidates approached the TDP office seeking support from the cadre. After winning the polls, they again reached the TDP office and thanked the party men for their support.
The same scene is repeated in Lok Sabha elections. The MP candidates are in line up at the TDP office seeking their support and are anxiously waiting to know behind whom would the party cadre through their weight.
During the Assembly polls in Telangana, the TDP expressed solidarity with the Congress and the supporters of TDP boss N. Chandrababu Naidu and TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy also helped in the campaign.
Later, ministers Ponguleti and Tummala went to the TDP to express their gratitude to the TDP cadre.
Ramasahayam Raghurami Reddy from the Congress, Nama Nageswara Rao from the BRS and Vinod Rao from the BJP are in the contest from Khammam. The trio also did rounds of the TDP office.
The Congress leader is appealed to the TDP to lend its support to the Congress just as it did during the Assembly polls but the TDP is disinclined to extend a helping hand because the Congress had not given the LS ticket to a leader from the Kamma community.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate Vinod Rao is urged the TDP to help him in the wake of the TDP-BJP-JSP alliance in Andhra Pradesh.
Nama Nageswara Rao is also tried to appease the TDP men saying that there is significant number of Kamma electorate in the region and hence, the TDP should support him.
It has to be seen whom would the TDP cadre finally support in the general polls, today is the deciding day.
