One of the many anti-public programs brought in by the outgoing YSR Congress government is the enforcement of “Cheththa Pannu”(garbage collection tax). This was a tax that was imposed to collect the garbage from households, which was priorly done free of cost by the local municipalities.
The YCP government used to charge Rs 30-150 based on the locality and the aim was to make around Rs 200 crore each year through this atrocious taxation scheme.
However, as a first order of business, the incoming Telugu Desam government, led by Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the municipalities to stop collecting this “Cheththa Pannu” from the public.
A gazette order was issued for the municipalities across Andhra Pradesh to immediately stop the collection of garbage tax from the public. This was one of the promises made by both Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan prior to the election and they quickly got to work.
Chandrababu, who is always known for his public-favoring approach to governance has started off on his mark by removing this “Garbage Tax”.
