Meet Palla, The New TDP President

Palla Srinivasa Rao is a name that not many heard before the 2024 election. But after the election, he entered the record books by becoming the MLA with the biggest margin as he swept Gajuwaka assembly constituency by a majority of 95,235 votes. Today, his happiness has quadrupled as he has been appointed as the new president of Telugu Desam.

The incumbent TDP president K Atchannaidu is having to step down from the post as he secured a cabinet berth in the newly formulated AP cabinet.

So the party’s high command was in search of a worthy BC community candidate to replace Atchannaidu and this is where Palla came in. He is not just a TDP loyalist, but also a strong BC leader in the Vizag region.

Palla is said to be in the good books of both Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh which made his run to the top that much easier.

He will now have the zeal of leading the ruling party in Andhra Pradesh and at the same time, hold the record for the MLA with the highest majority in the history of the state.

Palla had earlier won Gajuwaka in 2014 before losing to YCP’s Tippala Nagi Reddy in 2019. He made a sensational comeback in 2024 by destroying Gudivada Amarnath and winning the segment.
