One of the principal criticisms of the YSR Congress government has been its highly controversial sand policy. Due to the lack of regulation, sand prices per load skyrocketed, and numerous irregularities were reported in the online sand distribution policy enforced by the YCP government.
Naturally, expectations are high for the newly formed TDP+ government to introduce a new economically feasible policy akin to the one from 2014-19.
In accordance with this, CM Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly approved a new sand policy, which is scheduled to be publicized by Minister Kollu Ravi in a press meet this evening.
Naidu has approved the new sand policy that mandates free sand distribution. The loading and transportation charges will be determined by collectors and are expected to be finalized soon.
Unlike the previous YCP government, which charged for sand distribution on a per-tonne basis, the new TDP+ government has made sand allotment a free-of-cost proposition. Beneficiaries will only need to pay a nominal fee for loading and transportation.
The new policy is set to be announced today and is scheduled to take effect from the 8th of this month. This will be one of the most significant and eagerly awaited implementations of the TDP+ government in AP.
