Back in March when AP State Election Commissioner (APSEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar postponed the local body elections, AP CM Jagan led YSRCP government expressed its deep disappointment. They alleged a political conspiracy and terminated Nimmagadda from his job.
But with the court’s direction, YCP laid a back foot and Nimmagadda once again took over as APSEC. It’s been a while that Nimmagadda is back to work and he has been working to conduction the delayed local body polls with the pandemic impact reducing. But he is not receiving the support from the YCP government.
So Nimmagadda filed a writ petition in the AP High Court and in his petition he claimed that the YCP government is not providing sufficient funds to conduct the polls. However, the advocate on behalf of the government claimed that they released a G.O. way back in March regarding the funds and also released a sum of Rs 39 Lakh.
Hearing the arguments from both the sides, the AP High Court said it is closely observing the actions of both the government and Election Commission. Suggesting to work in coordination, the court asked the YCP government to assist the election commission in holding the polls at the earliest.
