Usually, we see chief ministers making the most of the final days of their tenure prior to the assembly elections. But in the case of the Delhi elections which are around a month from today, the CM of the state Aravind Kejriwal is set to resign in a couple of days.
Delhi Kejriwal was released on bail in the Delhi Liquor case after spending nearly six months in Tihar jail and he interacted with his party cadres today.
At the meeting with the cadres, Kejriwal made a hugely unexpected statement as he announced that he is resigning from the CM post in a couple of days. He vows to resign as the CM of Delhi in the next 48 hours.
Kejriwal commented that his image was marred by the questionable arrest that followed him being framed in the Delhi Liquor scam case. “I will sit on the CM chair again only after winning the electoral mandate. The people know that I have nothing to do with the scam and I was wrongly arrested in this case. I will be back on the chair only after they validate this in the coming election.”
A CM resigning his post a month before the elections doesn’t happen usually. But Kejriwal who had always practiced idealistic politics is proving to be different.
