The general consensus on the YSR Congress outfit is that the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led party is a Reddy-dominated clan. In tune with this, the latest decision taken by Jagan Mohan Reddy is heavily indicative of the Reddy-dominant approach that is to be taken by YCP in the days to follow.
Jagan announced his new core team by appointing six regional coordinators across Andhra Pradesh. The interesting about this allocation is that 5 out of the 6 coordinators expectedly hail from the Reddy community.
Guntur and Prakasham districts are given to Jagan’s trusted man Peddireddy Midhun Reddy while his father Ramachandra Reddy is given Chittoor and Nellore. Krishna district is given to super wealthy Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy, while erstwhile East and West Godavari are with Botsa Satyanarayana.
Jagan’s most trusted Vijayasai Reddy will coordinate Vizag and Srikakulam. Rayalaseema Kadapa and Anantapur are given to Jagan’s close relative YV Subba Reddy.
Barring Botsa, every other big name on the list is from the Reddy community and this is perhaps a power move from Jagan to pacify and appease the Reddy community which is believed to have deserted him during the 2024 polls.
But again, this is in direct contradiction with Jagan’s social engineering notion prior to the 2024 polls where he proudly claimed to give 50% of the seats to BCs. No such social engineering approach is taken in the party internal matters after the election as Reddys are given 90% of the top posts.
